My Process for Using iPads in the resource room for Language Arts~
Before the week starts I look ahead at the Reading series online and find out these topics for each grade level that I work with.
- Reading Skill
- Sight Words (per individual student, 5 words at a time)
- Spelling Words
- Phonics Skills
- Reading Fluency
- Vocabulary Words
- Grammar Skill
I then create a project or task that will incorporate the Reading Skill for the week.

Students have a list of sight words that they continually work on until they have mastered the 5 words and then we create another list.
Writing Wizard SAS Flashcards Touch and Write
Students study a decreased list of spelling words from the classroom or I create a list of 5 words based on word families.

Reading Fluency Practice Using Reading Series Decodable Readers
Quick Voice iBooks Dropbox
Reading Fluency take 2-
I discovered another way to work on reading fluency. Use CamScanner to take a jpeg of a fluency sheet. Once this is saved in my dropbox account I then open the jpeg in educreations. Students are able to record their voice along with underlining any words they do not know. This is a great way to keep a running record of their reading samples.

Creative Writing Prompts through coLar
First download coLar's free app, print off coloring pages (some are free), students color and then watch it come to life to prompt their story writing. This example is of a bird that comes to life, walks across the screen and eats the worm at it's feet.
Green Screen by Doink- Vocabulary building
We use Creative Commons Search to find usable pictures that coincide with the vocabulary words. Students then stand in front of the green screen as they describe their word meaning. I then used the raw footage and popped it into iMovie to add titles and transitions. This was our first attempt. We will be practicing our movie voices, eye contact etc. next time.
